George Best

Known for

"Maradona good, Pelé good, George Best." The most naturally gifted winger Britain produced, and its most self-destructive.

The proof

A European Cup in 1968, two league titles, and a Ballon d’Or at 22.

Why the name lasts

Statistics age; images don’t. Every player in this hall left behind an idea bigger than their career — a new role, a way of playing, or an identity that clubs and countries still borrow today.
